Training built around real employment.
Aspen Training Centre offers vocational training and skills education that connects directly to employment. Our programs are built around the skills employers need — practical, hands-on, and shaped around how workplaces actually function.
Our model is shaped by cooperative education traditions — the kind where learning, work, and community ownership are treated as parts of the same thing, not separate stages. That tradition runs through the Mondragon movement, and it runs through how we build programs: training that responds to employer needs, delivered in a way that respects what every learner brings.
The Aspen Grove
A grove of aspen trees looks like hundreds of separate trunks.
Underneath, they're one organism — a single root system, feeding and connecting every tree in the forest.
A trunk can fall. The roots carry on.

Practical skills, shaped by real employer needs.
Our mission is to offer formal, accessible training built around the practical skills employers actually need. We design programs around the specific competencies that move learners from the classroom into real employment.

Education built on dignity, shared ownership, and community.
We value education that respects human dignity, promotes shared ownership, and treats learning as a right rather than a commodity. These values shape how we teach, how we support learners, and how we work with employers and communities.

A foundation for employment and career advancement.
Our purpose is to give people the knowledge and training they need for real employment and career growth — through a model that pairs classroom learning with practical, hands-on experience. The two parts are designed to work together, each reinforcing what the other builds.
"Education for All."
Aspen Training CentreInspired by Mondragon.
Aspen Training Centre draws its model from the Mondragon cooperative movement — one of the most significant worker-owned enterprises ever built.
In 1956, a priest named José María Arizmendiarrieta helped five factory workers in the Basque Country of Spain establish their own cooperative. From those five people grew a movement. Today, Mondragon is a federation of 81 self-governing cooperatives — around 70,000 people, with sales reaching more than 150 countries.
The principles behind it are straightforward: workers own the enterprise, governance is democratic, profits are reinvested in the community, and education is built into the structure rather than treated as a separate preparation. Mondragon demonstrated that a cooperative can compete in global markets — and sustain itself across generations. That's the model we're building from.
Ten Cooperative Principles

Aspen's Three-Part Structure
Inspired by the Mondragon model, Aspen Training Centre is built around three interconnected parts.
Education & Training
Formal programs and courses that develop practical, employment-ready skills — starting with personal support work and expanding into other fields. Built around what employers say they need, not what's easy to teach.
Sustainable Revenue Generation
A structure designed to sustain itself long-term — generating the resources that fund program expansion and keep the institution accountable to the community rather than to outside investors.
Enterprise Development
Enterprises developed through and for the Aspen community — ventures that create real employment and put ownership in the hands of the people doing the work.
Roots Strengthen The Future.
We help people build the skills and experience to move into real work — and keep growing from there.
